More 80/35 band announcements. The Des Moines Music Coalition has added to its roster of bands for the festival, being held July 5 and 6 in downtown Des Moines. New to the lineup are: Menomena, Apollo Brown and Guilty Simpson, Escondido, The Pines,  Water Liars, Maxilla Blue, Prissy Clerks, H.D. Harmsen, SP3: Steve Pellow and The Trio, Gloom Balloon and Mighty Shady. For full concert details and to purchase your tickets, hit up www.80-35.com.

As of press time, there’s still time to RSVP a seat at The GrapeVine’s Mother’s Day show, featuring Tony Bohnenkamp on Sunday, May 12. SoundNotes Pick o’ the Week: On Thursday, May 9, Wooly’s plays host to the best thing to come out of New Jersey since Aqua Teen Hunger Force, The Dillinger Escape Plan. The all-ages show kicks off at 7 p.m. with The Faceless, Royal Thunder, The Maw and Curse of Hail all opening. Tickets are $16 in advance, available through www.woolysdm.com or $18 day of show.

Also on May 9, Krazee Kafe brings in Missouri’s Bridges Burnt for its Bike Night concert. The show is 18 and up, and the first 100 people 21 and older get in for free. For everyone else, it’s $7 for fans under 21, $5 for the drinkers.

Then, on Friday, May 10, the Val Air Ballroom presents Tech N9ne in Des Moines with his “Independent Powerhouse” tour. This time around, the Kansas City rapper brings along Brotha Lynch Hung, Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun, Rittz and Ces Cru. The show starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $30 in advance (www.valairballroom.com) and $35 day of show with a limited number of reserved box seats available at $55.

Also on May 10, Alvarez Gots Crabbs at The Underground, starting at 9 p.m. We assume that’s a band and not some kind of weird threat. No cover.

Saturday, May 11, Vaudeville Mews has Chicago garage rockers The Laureates performing at 10 p.m. Des Moines acts Wolves in the Attic and New Member Charles both open. Admission is $5 at the door.

Then, on Sunday, May 12, Matt Woods performs some of the best blues in town down at el Bait Shop, starting at 8 p.m. No cover.

Tuesday, May 14, The Hull Ave Tavern has Airport Novels starting at 9 p.m. No cover.

On Wednesday, May 15, House of Bricks is home to the Gurf Morlix CD-release party with Brother Trucker’s Andy Fleming and Mike Fitzpatrick performing as special guests. That show kicks off at 7 p.m. and is $5 at the door.

Also on May 15, Gas Lamp hosts a “Writers Round” show featuring local songwriters Josh Davis, Tony Bohnenkamp, Dr. Joel Baker and Ty Wistrand. The acoustic show will feature the four musicians taking turns at the mic, playing originals and songs that have inspired them. The show kick starts at 9 p.m., and admission is $5 at the door.
