Burglary
Tom Coleman, the owner of Beaverdale Confections, 2641 Beaver Ave., reported a break-in at his candy store during the night of May 18. He entered the store at 8 a.m. on May 19 and found the cash register open on the counter and the safe also open. Coleman stated he no longer used the safe and could not find anything missing, though he will continue to search more thoroughly. There was no sign of forced entry and nothing else in the store appeared to be disturbed.
Assault on a police officer
Two police officers responded to a call at 1330 18th St. regarding Phylicia Johnson, who witnesses said walked into the home with a “substantial amount of marijuana” and proceeded to go upstairs to her room. Officers knocked on the door and waited at least five minutes for her to open it. Johnson reportedly yelled and was uncooperative with officers. The officers located a small amount of marijuana in a shoebox, and Johnson confirmed twice to an officer that it was hers. She was then handcuffed. That’s when she threatened to kill Officer Luke Harden if he took her to jail, and she scratched his right arm in five different places. Johnson was arrested.
Shots fired
Approximately 10 shots were reportedly fired at Scores Sports Bar, 2335 Hickman Road, on May 18. Multiple units responded at 12:57 a.m., as more shots were heard near 23rd Street and Hickman Road. Several people reported being struck by flying glass, but no one was hit by any of the shots. The front of Scores was hit multiple times, and four cars were hit in the parking lot. CV
