SHITTY HOUSE
Police arrested a 22-year-old woman just after 1 a.m. on Oct. 31 after neighbors at an apartment located at the 200 block of Dickman Road called them reporting two small children out in the 52-degree, rainy weather crying. Police arrived to find one child wearing nothing but a T-shirt and the other clothed but wearing a urine-soaked diaper. Inside, the house was filthy with animal feces and Hydroxicut pills on the floor and no food in the home. The mother showed up about 30 minutes later. She was charged with two counts of child endangerment. The kids were released to a grandmother.
DOGTOWN ROBBERY
Police responded to a robbery on Oct. 27 at 12:44 a.m. in the Drake neighborhood. A Drake student reported being robbed at gun-point near 29th and University. His wallet, cell phone, credit cards and car, a black 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse, were taken. The vehicle has since been recovered. Police discovered the credit card was used at a Des Moines area convenience store and were able to get photos from surveillance video at the store. It showed three suspects. Investigations continue.
GARAGE SALE ASSISTANT FEES
A man called police to report a burglary. He said a friend was helping him with a garage sale on Oct. 29 at the 4500 block of Hickman Road. When the sale ended, they stored unsold items in the man’s garage. Later he went to the garage and noticed some of the items, including a $250 power washer, a $275 snow blower, a $15 battery charger, $15 bolt-cutters and $70 police scanner, were missing. When his friend oddly would not return his calls, he became suspicious that he might be the suspect. No arrests were made at that time. CV
