BONE TO PICK

Police were called after a man received threats from a suspect with a knife upon arriving at a car dealer lot at the 2800 block of Southeast 14th Street on July 30. The suspect came at the victim with a four- to six-inch boning knife. The victim ran away as the suspect yelled, “Wait! Come back, and let’s finish this.” The victim went to the business at 8 p.m. so his friend could procure a temporary registration tag for a recently-purchased vehicle. The suspect had had previous issues with the victim and was said to be intoxicated at the time of the threats.

A bonfire complaint resulted in a police and homeowner dispute just after midnight on July 31 at the 1700 block of East Emma Avenue. The homeowner was arrested and charged with an assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct. The home had been visited for similar complaints seven times within the last two months, according to police. As he was arrested the suspect told the officer that his crew would “make him disappear.”

PICKING ON THE HOMELESS

A homeless woman approached police on the corner of 15th and Ingersoll at 3 p.m. on July 30 after she reportedly was assaulted by another woman. The victim had been walking northbound on 15th Street approaching Locust when another female pushed her to the ground and began yelling in her face. The officer observed fresh scrapes and bleeding on the victim. The officer located the suspect later based on the victim’s description. She was arrested for assault causing injury and taken to Polk County Jail. CV
