NOTHING IS SAFE

A clerk from the Tobacco Outlet store on the 3400 block of Southwest Ninth Street called police around 6 a.m. on June 20 claiming two robbers had held him at gunpoint at his store. He stated he had arrived at the store to disarm the alarm that was tripped, when two men approached and demanded that he open the door and gain access to the safe inside the business. The men ran from the scene with an estimated $6,000 from the safe.

VEXED VAGRANT

CNA - Stop HIV Iowa

A man called police and said he had invited a homeless man to stay the night in his apartment at the 400 block of Grand Avenue and they were drinking when the homeless man became aggressive. The victim called police at 11:12 a.m. on June 19 after the suspect punched him on the right side of the head. The suspect fled before police arrived.

NOTHING LEFT TO STORE

A witness called police around midnight on June 18 after discovering the lock of her storage unit located near the 4200 block of East 43rd Court had been cut off, and all the belongings were taken from the inside. A nearby resident said he witnessed a yellow truck near the unit that was ransacked. He stated that the truck was seen during the daytime hours but could not recall which day.

DESPERATE DELUSIONS?

A homeless woman called police claiming to have been assaulted near the 1400 block of Fourth Street on June 20 at 12:30 a.m. She said she was sleeping in the bushes in Bates Park when several people attacked her and stole her newly refilled prescription medication. She told police she was punched and kicked all over, but no lacerations were visible. CV
