PEPPER-SPRAYED PUGILIST

CNA - Stop HIV Iowa

Police were dispatched to Iowa Methodist Medical Center just before 1 a.m. on Dec. 5 to assist security officers who had someone in custody. The suspect allegedly had been attempting to pry open a door to the hospital when two security guards approached. The suspect tried to walk away, but when officers pursued, he turned to them, put his hands in front of him, made fists in a boxer’s style and took a couple steps toward them. Security officers then pepper-sprayed the allegedly homeless suspect and detained him until police arrived.

FINGER FOOD FIGHT

Officers were tripped to the 100 block of Third Street at about 2:45 a.m. on Dec. 3 on a report of a fight. When they arrived, they found the alleged victim’s index finger had been bitten off. He was immediately taken to the emergency room. Witnesses said the victim had been fighting with three other men on the sidewalk. At the hospital, police report the victim was very intoxicated and belligerent, yelling obscenities. The victim told police he was fighting, but beyond that, he had blacked out and had no recollection of anything else.

SANTA PUB CRAWL… LITERALLY

Police responded to a call around 3 a.m. regarding an intoxicated man at WHO 13 who had left prior to their arrival. Cops found him at Sixth and Locust having a diabetic reaction because his insulin pump had been ripped out. He told police he was in town from Chicago and had been downtown with friends at the Santa Pub Crawl when they got separated. He said someone from behind shoved him to the ground, knocking him unconscious and stole his cell phone and wallet. CV
