Cozy Café open six months after fire damage

After suffering major smoke damage when the pizza oven burned a few nearby pizza boxes in June, the Cozy Café located at 5405 Douglas Ave. has reopened. Owner Mark Linebach had to replace a significant portion of the café, including new booths, electrical, HVAC and a state-of-the-art hood exhaust system for the oven. Most of the former staff has returned to the restaurant. Hours are 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday; and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday. Lululemon moves store to Jordan Creek

The athletic apparel store celebrated its grand opening at Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines on Nov. 14. Previously located in the East Village, Lululemon Athletica was a small showroom with limited hours. The new store is located in the former J.Jill location, in the same wing as Dillard’s on the lower level. It sells clothes sizes 2 to 12 for women and small to XXL for men, and it offers free yoga classes at 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings. Johnston chiropractic clinic gets new owners, name

Eric and Megan Herrmann have taken over First Step Chiropractic and Acupuncture in Johnston and renamed it Herrmann Family Chiropractic. The office is located at 6110 N.W. 86th St., Suite 102. The married couple graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in June, and Eric Herrmann specializes in working with athletes, while Megan Herrmann specializes in children and pregnant women. The clinic will retain the current hours of First Step until Dec. 1. Starting then it will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday; and 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday. Gift and furniture moves from Valley West Mall

Calypso 968 has been a staple in the Valley West Mall for a long time, and it recently opened a store in Jordan Creek Town Center next to Dillard’s. It is located in the former location of Ragstock, which moved to the other side of the mall. The Valley West location will stay open through December. Owners Melodie Barkley and Karen Seifert said they decided to move after a decline in foot traffic at Valley West Mall. Calypso sells contemporary furniture, vintage items and an eclectic array of miscellaneous offerings. It will continue to offer wine tastings and psychic readings. Living History Farms hotel temporarily closed

The Comfort Inn at Living History Farms in Urbandale will be closed through the spring of 2015 for renovations. The hotel’s owner, Heart of America Group, is also doing the renovations at the Machine Shed, a restaurant at Living History Farms. The hotel is located at 11167 Hickman Road.

Align Right Chiropractic opens in Clive

A new chiropractic office opened at 8170 Hickman Road in Clive on Nov. 17. Align Right Chiropractic was opened by April Oxendale, who graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri. The clinic offers care for colicky babies, sinus congestion and for people wanting to maximize performance in sports, dance and aerobics. Oxendale also provides Graston Technique to relieve headaches, migraines, knee and lower back pain and many other issues. West Glen to add apartments, fitness center and lounge

Metonic Real Estate Solutions announced plans to renovate and convert the first floor of the Keystone building at West Glen Town Center into 31 luxury apartments with a new fitness center and resident lounge. The apartments will have private patios, LED lighting, open kitchens with stainless steel appliances, walk-in closets and side-by-side washers and dryers. Metonic expects to have a model apartment available for tours and pre-leasing starting in February 2015. All units are expected to be complete and ready for residents during April. CV
