Belin Quartet Kicks off FREE Summer Concert Series on Friday
5/22/2017DES MOINES – The Belin Quartet, managed by Civic Music Association (CMA), in their 18th season, will play a series of FREE lunchtime concerts in downtown Des Moines beginning Friday, May 26th at 12:15 pm at the People’s Plaza, located at the foot of the Iowa State Capitol West Terrace.
The Belin Quartet is partnering with Ballet Des Moines and the Des Moines Public Library and will perform Friday noontime concerts throughout downtown Des Moines this summer. All concerts are free and open to the public.
The Belin Quartet consists of alternating violinists Julie Fox Henson, John Helmich, Tracy Engman Finkelshteyn, violist Benjamin Davis and cellist George Work. The quartet was established in the year 2000 by a grant to CMA by the Iowa Foundation for Education, Environment, and the Arts, a charitable foundation created by David Belin. His vision that the whole community should have the opportunity to share the joys of classical music is realized through the Belin Quartet.
The Belin Quartet 2017 Summer Concert Series will include a special children’s concert, partnering with the Downtown branch of the Des Moines Public Library on July 14th, 2017. The season will conclude at Meredith East Lawn on July 28th.
