Barnstormers Defeat Crush–record is now 7-2

Iowa defeats Colorado 33-21

Des Moines, IA – The Iowa Barnstormers (7-2) won its fifth consecutive game with a 33-21 score defeating the Colorado Crush (2-7) Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Arena.

The Barnstormers, who is off to its best start since 1996, gave up a field goal to the Crush on its first possession of the game, but bounced back to regain the lead when running back Keshaudas Spence ran in a six yard touchdown to take a 7-3 lead going into the second quarter.

Starting the second quarter, the Iowa defense held Colorado to another field goal on its first possession of the quarter, 7-6. On the following Barnstormer drive, quarterback Travis Partridge lateraled it to receiver Ryan Balentine who scored a four yard score, 13-6.

In the second half, the Iowa defense wasted no time impacting the game when defensive back DaeJohn Love picked off Colorado on the third play of the third quarter. Iowa would capitalize when Partridge called his own number and scored a three yard touchdown run, 20-6. Iowa would extend its lead when Spence ran in his second touchdown of the game at the goal line coming after Iowa blocked a Colorado field goal attempt, 27-6.

Colorado would cut into the lead on the first play of the fourth quarter when running back Josh Ford ran a touchdown in at the goal line, 27-13. With Colorado driving down the length of the field, Iowa defensive back Dee Maggitt Jr. picked off the Crush and took it back the length of the field for a pick six, 33-13. Colorado would pick up a late touchdown with under a minute to play, 33-21.
