Iowa Barnstormers kick off training camp in Des Moines

Iowa Barnstormers Vice President and Chief Operating Officer John Pettit, along with Head Coach Dixie Wooten, unveiled plans today regarding the team’s 2017 Training Camp. This season, the Iowa Barnstormers will be holding their two-week training camp in Des Moines at the Game Ready Training Center.

Training camp officially opens Jan. 31 when 40 players from around the country will work to earn a spot on the Barnstormers 2017 roster. Throughout the Iowa Barnstormers Training Camp, team practices will take place daily at 6 a.m. at the Game Ready Training Center (3217 N.W. Prairie Lane, Des Moines). Training Camp practices are open to the general public and all media. The team’s full practice schedule is attached.

The team will travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 4 to face off against in-state rivals the Titans in a pre-season matchup. The pre-season game will kick off at 7:05 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular Center. The team will also travel to Grand Island, Nebraska, on Tuesday, Feb. 7 to scrimmage against the Nebraska Danger in a closed practice.

In addition to practices, the Barnstormers will engage in several community events. Fans can meet members of the 2017 training camp roster for the first time on Sunday, Feb. 5, at Doc’s Lounge in Johnston for the Iowa Barnstormers BIG GAME Watch Party. The event will include a meet and greet, drink specials and giveaways. The festivities will begin at 4 p.m.
