A celebration of music
This weekend brings a music
event like no other to Western
Gateway Park in downtown Des Moines
with the 80/35 Festival, the biggest
music festival in Iowa. Dozens
of bands over two days on three
stages provide a sound for nearly
everyone’s taste. But 80/35 is
packed with more than just music.
You’ll find fireworks, interactive
art, kid’s activities, meet and
greets, street performances and
more. Look for all the details
inside along with freelance reporter
Michael Swanger’s interview with
Public Enemy’s Chuck D.
A few changes
We have added a few items to
the pages of Cityview this week.
You will notice a new weekly column
of book reviews, which will publish
on the pages with our television,
DVD and video games reviews. We
moved our CD reviews to a new
section focused on local music,
called “The Sound.” In addition
to the CD reviews, you will find
our traditional “Scene Scribe,”
but with the “Scene Notes” pulled
out separately in an easier-to-read
format. Look for more items to
be added to “The Sound” in weeks
ahead.
Thanks for reading. CV
