The trail
to Templeton
Iowa company successfully
brings back nostalgic whiskey
brand
Ever been to Templeton? Me neither.
But reporter Jared Curtis took
me to this northwest Iowa community
mentally as I read this week’s
cover story about Templeton Rye
— a whiskey made by a unique Iowa
company that is capitalizing on
its past and capturing some nostalgia
along the way.
Now, I am not much of a whiskey
drinker, and I could not have
told you the difference between
bourbon and rye prior to reading
this story. In fact, I am not
sure if I still care one way or
another, but I am going to try
Templeton Rye next time I belly
up to a local establishment. Call
me sentimental. Call me an Iowa
boy. Call me whatever you want
as long as you order me a shot
of this Iowa legend.
Imagine creating a product today
that you won’t be able to sell
until 2012. Now that’s patience,
and that’s exactly what the founders
of Templeton Rye knew they had
to deal with in starting this
company. Cheers to Templeton Rye
president and co-owner Scott Bush,
brand manager Michael Killmer,
bottler Mox Irlmeier, co-owner
Keith Kerkoff, labeler Jan Wieland
and the rest of the gang in Templeton
for bringing back an Iowa legend.
We look forward to sampling your
product.
Thanks for reading.
