Botanical Garden Receives $175,000 from Iowa Arts & Culture Recovery Program

1/5/2021

The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is pleased to announce that it has received an Iowa Arts & Culture Recovery Program grant award from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs. Grant funds will support losses due to decreased attendance and will cover added expenses to ensure the continued safety of the Botanical Garden’s guests, volunteers and staff.

“We’re sending our sincere gratitude to Governor Reynolds for knowing the importance of supporting arts and culture during these challenging times, and to our friends at the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs for administering these funds,” says Chief Advancement Officer Azure Christensen. “Thank you for letting us be a part of your communities.”

Funding for the Iowa Arts & Culture Recovery grant is made possible by Governor Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, through the federal CARES Act.

The Botanical Garden remains open Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Garden’s indoor spaces—tropical conservatory and Gardeners Show House—remain open Tuesday-Sunday for guests to safely escape the cold and surround themselves with thousands of tropical plants. Additionally, the Gnomes in the Dome scavenger hunt has been extended through January for all ages and is included with general admission.
