Drunk in the buff
Police responded early morning on Sept. 4 to
the 2200 block of East Logan where witnesses
alleged a man had been banging on the back door
of an apartment building. Police walked up to
observe a male lying on the sidewalk completely
naked. His clothes were spread out on the sidewalk
around him. Officers woke the suspect from a
sleeping state and assisted him in putting on
his pants. The suspect reportedly had bloodshot
eyes, slurred speech and unsteady balance. He
admitted to drinking downtown and refused a
breath test. He was arrested on charges of public
intoxication and booked into the Polk County
Jail.
Jailhouse beef
A man and his wife entered a convenient store
at the 400 block of Euclid Avenue around 6:30
p.m. on Sept. 4, when the alleged suspect approached
them. The suspect said, “Hey, do you remember
me from the joint?” and reportedly started hitting
the man repeatedly causing a list of injuries.
The alleged victim told police he did not recognize
the assailant. Meanwhile, witnesses said there
was another man in the driver’s seat whom did
nothing but drive off with the suspect after
the assault. The store video camera caught much
of the incident on tape. Investigations continue.
Smooth Criminals
A small group of people were talking on a front
porch around 2:40 a.m. on Sept. 3 at the 600
block of 16th Street when two guys came from
around the side of the residence and reportedly
pointed a handgun at them. With the gun pointed
at one of the alleged victim’s head, the suspects
forced all parties to the ground and had them
empty their pockets. After retrieving $100 from
another victim’s purse, the two men took off
on foot. Police and nearby security officers
attempted to find the eluding suspects, but
as of press time they remain at large. CV |
