The good folks at Hoyt Sherman Place are going
to help you rev up your Christmas spirit this
winter by hosting two performances of “Miracle
on 34th Street.” The shows will take place on
Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are
$50 for main floor and $43 for the balcony,
and are available at the Hoyt Sherman box office
and through Ticketmaster. Kids 12 and under
get $5 off.
Sunday, Aug. 26, you can head down to the Holiday
Inn at 1050 6th Ave. and check out the Des Moines
Music Collector’s Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $1, and you can check out a couple
dozen vendors selling music, posters, DVDs and
other collectibles. For more information, call

Your music week starts in Valley Junction, where
the “Music in the Junction” series keeps on
truckin’ on Thursday, Aug. 23. This week, check
out Boomerang. Music starts at 5:30 p.m. for
all ages.
Then on Friday, Aug. 24, the Sound Notes Pick
o’ the Week is to grab a drink at the Underground
with Hath No Fury. Show starts at 9 p.m., and
there’s no cover.
On Saturday, Aug. 25, put your culture boots
on and head down to the Temple for the Performing
Arts, where you can check out a performance
by the Symphony Academy piano students at 2
p.m. The show is both free to attend and all
ages.
Also on Aug. 25, the Vaudeville Mews has a night
of hip-hop ready to go, starting with the early
show, where you can check out Tre D Crazi, playing
along with Aeon Grey, Gadema, Ryan Nixon and
Richie Daggers. It’s all ages, and $3 will get
you in.
On the night of Sunday, Aug. 26, the Gas Lamp
is playing host to California country/rock outfit
The Atom Age. The show starts at 8 p.m., and
admission is $5.
Get down to Wooly’s on Monday, Aug 27 and check
out Built to Spill. The Idaho indie rocker’s
show starts at 9 p.m., and tickets are $20,
available at Wooly’s and through www.ticketfly.com.
HELVETIA and Revolt Revolt also play.
On Tuesday, Aug. 28, it’s time to tease up your
hair, find your stone washed jeans and head
down to Wells Fargo Arena to check out Lita
Ford, Def Leppard and Poison. That bad boy kicks
off at 7 p.m., and tickets will range between
$49 and $99. Tickets can be bought at the Wells
Fargo box office, all Dahls Foods locations
or www.dahlstickets.com.
Finally, House of Bricks is the place to be
on Wednesday, Aug. 29, to check out Hellbound
Glory and Screamin’ J and his Rebel Yell. They
are going to kick things off with an 8:30 p.m.
