Waterworks Park was a pretty happening place this past weekend. For the contemporary set, Adam Lambert and Train rocked 102.5’s summer concert on Saturday, and for those feeling nostalgic, KC and the Sunshine Band and Joan Jett and the Blackharts brought the funk and the noise on Sunday for 93.3’s Party in the Park. I do not envy the clean-up crews.

Thursday, Aug 2, Agent Orange plays the Gas Lamp, starting at 7 p.m. Billing themselves as “the original OC Punk/Surf Power Trio,” the pride of Orange, Calif., plays the venue with North of Grand and the Surf Zombies. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

Hoyt Sherman Place is proud to welcome Kris Kristofferson on Friday, Aug 3. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $35 and $45 in advance or $38 and $48 day of show. Advance tickets are available through the Hoyt Sherman box office, or through Ticketmaster.

Also on Friday, Aug 3, the Val Air Ballroom plays host to the Scream it Like You Mean it 2012 Tour. Performing acts include Attack Attack!, We Came as Romans, The Acacia Strain, Woe, is Me, Abandon All Ships, Impending Doom, Texas in July, Like Moths to Flames, In Fear of Faith, For All Those Sleeping, Close to Home, Volumes, Secrets, Hands Like Houses, Glasscloud and At the Skylines. Advance tickets are $22 and available at the Val Air box office or through www.ticketweb.com, and day of show tickets run $25. Show starts at 2:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 4, House of Bricks is home to Kyser SaiSo, G Ball, O Hicks, Diamond Weatherrall, Penn Ave Boys, Venom and Kempt. The all-ages show kicks off at 5 p.m., and all the fun can be had for just $5.

Head to Wooly’s on Sunday, Aug 5 to check out Saving Abel, playing along with Index Case, Fatal Addiction and Shatter. Doors for the show open at 5 p.m., and tickets are $10 in advance and $12 day of show. Get your advance tix through www.ticketfly.com.

Also noteworthy on Aug 6, the Vaudeville Mews welcomes Indiana garage rockers Vacation Club. The show starts at 10 p.m. and also features Go Go Galaxy, DJ DJ Tanner and the always popular MediumPENIS. VentePENIS, if you’re ordering in a Starbucks. $5 at the door.

Finally, go on out to the Blank Park Zoo for the Soundnotes Pick o’ the Week. The theme for this week’s Zoo Brew on Wednesday, Aug 8 is “Summer Luau” and features the oh-so appropriately named Monkey, Monkey, Monkey. Check them out while sampling Landshark, Corona, Dos Equis, Leinie Summer Shandy and New Belgium Sommersault, amongst others. Admission is free for zoo members and $11 for non-members.
