For: Payment for updating downtown digital 3-D model, as per City Manager Erin Olson-Douglas, for the YMCA site. ($800 remains from grant after this payment.)

For: Payment for consultation services regarding real estate located at 645 S.E. 26th Court for the Southeast Connector Street Improvement Project (three hours at $200 per hour).

For: Purchase of two wall fans for the Four Mile Community Center weight room.

To: TMC Auto Body

For: Payment of a claim filed by Walter Jones (who was determined to be at fault) after he backed into a parked Community Development vehicle at 555 Fifth Ave. last December. The adjuster collected $2,074.05 from IMT Insurance on Dec. 21, but city driver Bob Reynolds did not get an estimate from TMC Auto Body as the adjuster had asked until recently — $983.36 was TMC’s estimate.

For: Payment for work and installation of cabinetry and countertops at Fire Station 9.

To: Andrea Wolfe and Jacob Wolfe

For: Payment to settle a property damage claim filed by Jacob Wolfe, 17, of Des Moines, after he was arrested for fraud and identity theft on June 27. During the arrest, many of his belongings were placed on the trunk of the police car. When Officer Darin Miller moved the items, the cell phone belonging to the boy’s mother, Andrea Wolfe, fell to the ground and was damaged. The amount paid was based on warranty replacement costs including tax.

To: ABM Janitorial Services (Chicago, Ill.)

For: Payment for janitorial services for Community Centers, Four Mile, Pioneer Columbus, Southeast and Logan, for the month of June.

To: Ann Anhalt

For: Refund payment on impound charges per an administrative hearing after Anhalt’s car was towed from the 200 block of Court Avenue on May 18. She was attending a concert at People’s Court and came out to find her car and others had been towed. A nearby officer told her the area was designated as “no parking during select weekend evening hours for party bus pick-up and drop-off.” She requested an administrative hearing, which was set for July 2. She showed up to represent herself and the City representative failed to appear. Therefore, the case was dismissed.

Travel

The Des Moines City Council recently approved Community Action Administrator, Marci Rafdal, to travel to New York, N.Y., from Aug. 17-23, to attend the national conference of the Community Action Partnership. The conference promises to provide training and educational opportunities that will assist in administering federal grants. This comes at a $2,673.76 tax payers’ expense. CV
