VIOLENT VIDEOGRAPHERS
Officers were called to the Fareway on Southeast
22nd Street at 9 p.m. on July 24 after two men
beat up a man who allegedly witnessed the alleged
suspect go from one vehicle to another suspiciously.
After he saw him staring, the suspect came at
him with a knife but dropped the knife and punched
him. Then his buddy reportedly got out a video
camera and taped and laughed while the suspect
beat up the man. A nearby witness confirmed
the incident. Both men fled in a black Trailblazer.
CAN’T CATCH A SMOKE BREAK
A Git-n-Go employee was having a smoke break
around 10:45 p.m. on July 24 at the store at
5726 Franklin Ave. when a man wearing all black
and carrying a gun told her to go back inside
and open the safe and the cash drawer. He took
all the money from both and left. She told police
this robbery could be connected to a similar
July 21 incident at D and D Bakery. Video surveillance
will be reviewed.
‘NOW TALK SHIT’
Two men in their 40s were walking to Kum &
Go at 31st and University at about 3 a.m. on
July 23 when they were encountered by a hostile
suspect at the 2900 block of Cottage Grove.
On their way back from the store, they saw the
alleged suspect on a front porch. He and a second
suspect “ran up on them,” one carrying a sawed-off
shotgun wrapped in a shirt and the other with
a chrome handgun. They yelled, “Now talk shit”
and told them to empty their pockets. One victim
handed over everything he had — a cell phone
and a lighter — while the other went inside
a building and didn’t come back out. CV |
