MAD MOB
Police were dispatched to Mercy Hospital around
2:30 a.m. on April 22. The witness there said
he had tried to break up a fight at Southwest
7th Street and Porter, where two unknown victims
were jumped by about 15-20 others. One of the
suspects reportedly tackled him on concrete
causing him to break his elbow. Police continue
investigations.
WHEN NATURE CALLS
Drake University security alerted police at
about 2 a.m. on April 22 about a possible drunk
man urinating on a wall. When they attempted
to confront the man, he reportedly “became belligerent,”
poking each of them in the chest. He resisted
as they tried to restrain him, and he went on
to “be resistive and loudly insult officers.”
He was charged with simple assault, public intox
and false reporting.
YOUNG AND INFAMOUS
On April 19 a male teen allegedly had a gun
that he used to threaten a woman in order to
learn of her nephew’s whereabouts. Witnesses
led the police to three suspects running through
yards north of Forest Avenue. One officer pursued
them on foot, ordering them to stop, but they
reportedly kept running. One female was eventually
caught. Another officer nabbed the other two
nearby. Investigations led to the arrest of
a third male, totaling four people in all, who
are reportedly affiliated with the local gang
“Young Infamous.” All four were taken to Juvenile
