March 8-14

A Paul Revere’s Pizza delivery man arrived at his destination at the 1000 block of 23rd Street on March 14 to two men on a stoop who, instead of tipping him, reportedly punched him in the side of the head and demanded money. They allegedly stole $200 from his pockets before kicking him multiple times. Police could not trace the cell phone number used to place the pizza order, and they believe the two suspects are also responsible for a similar robbery of a Domino’s Pizza delivery person that occurred a few hours earlier.

A woman arrived home to the 600 block of Allison Avenue around 6 a.m. to find flames coming out of the dumpster behind her house. She used a fire extinguisher on the flames until the fire department arrived. The Fire Department officials determined it to be a case of third-degree arson, as there was no heat source nearby, and the fire seemed intentionally set, originating from a couple mattresses.

A motorcycle driver was injured near the 4100 block of McKinley Avenue on March 12 when he and a group of his friends, all on motorcycles, reportedly attempted to pass a van that was moving too slow. Only half of the group of 11 cyclists got around the vehicle, when the driver of the van reportedly got mad and ran the alleged victim off the road and into the curb. The victim hit the ground, and the van driver reportedly continued on without stopping. The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition, and the alleged suspect is still unknown. CV
