The 2012 RV Camping Show will take place Feb.
2-5 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Varied Industries
Building, East 30th Street and East University
Avenue. The show will feature seven dealers
from central Iowa offering their newest models

Warm up with wine
The Heart of Iowa Wine Trail will host its
Fourth Annual Tropical Wine Festival on Friday,
Feb. 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Des Moines Botanical
Center, 909 Robert D. Ray Drive. The Tropical
Wine Festival will allow attendees to escape
the winter inside the lush surroundings of the
Botanical center while sampling wines from 15
central Iowa wineries. Hors d’ouevres will be
available along with prize drawings and live
music from Tropical Steel. Guests will receive
a commemorative wine glass and are encouraged
to wear their favorite tropical attire. Tickets
are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. For more

“An American Salute”
The Des Moines Symphony presents its newest
concert, “An American Salute,” on Saturday,
Feb. 4 and Sunday, Feb. 5 at the Civic Center
of Greater Des Moines, 221 Walnut St. One of
America’s most sought-after female conductors,
Sarah Hicks, will make her Des Moines debut
conducting an American program. She’ll lead
the orchestra in some of the country’s most
celebrated works including Barber’s “Adagio
for Strings” and Aaron Copland’s “Billy the

Art in Motion
The Des Moines Social Club will present “Art
In Motion,” an event to showcase art and people
in motion, on Friday, Feb. 3 from 6 to 11 p.m.
The event will include kinetic sculptures by
local artist Gabriel Luedersand as well as other
art that moves or depicts movement. Along with
the art, King Pong, a Des Moines Table Tennis
League, will feature two tournaments including
a celebratory tournament. Celebrities participating
include John Bachman, The Round Guy, Bill Stowe,
Rick Clark and Mike Pace. A pro tournament will
follow. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the celebrity
tournament starting at 6:30 p.m. Admission is
