‘An Evening With: Nick Offerman’ presented by The Student Union Board

Stephens Auditorium

Thursday, Feb. 2, 8 p.m.

Nick Offerman, who plays Ron Swanson on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation,” will entertain audiences with a hodgepodge of ideas during his one-man show including humorous anecdotes, original acoustic songs, audience participation and wood working tips. (Offerman, much like his TV character, is a skilled wood-worker; visit Admission is $15.

‘Dancing with the Moon’ presented by Tallgrass Theatre

Rex Mathis Auditorium, 1401 Vine St., West Des Moines

Jan. 20 through Feb. 4

Tom Deiker, winner of the sixth annual Iowa Playwrights Workshop, presents his show “Dancing with the Moon.” The story follows Kate, an earthy, middle-aged divorcee who is looking for love in all the wrong places. Admission is $12.

‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ presented by The Des Moines Playhouse

831 42nd St.

Jan 20 through Feb. 12

Based on Harper Lee’s iconic novel, “To Kill a Mockingbird” focuses on Scout, a young girl who is being raised by her widowed father, Atticus. She experiences a number of dramatic events that will shape her life to come thanks to her father, a lawyer who is defending a local black man who is accused of a crime. Admission is $20-$29.

‘West Side Story’ presented by the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines

The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines, 221 Walnut St.

Feb. 7 through Feb. 12

“When you’re a Jet you’re a Jet all the way, from your first cigarette, to your last dying day.” That’s right, Tony and Maria are coming to town, so get ready to dance with “West Side Story.” Along with story of two lovers from the wrong neighborhood, the show is filled with classic songs including “Something’s Coming,” “Tonight,” “America,” “I Feel Pretty” and “Somewhere.” Admission is $20-$71.50.

‘An Evening of One-Acts (& More)’ presented by Incoherent Theatre Company

Civic Center’s Stoner Theater, 221 Walnut St.

Feb. 10-11

The Incoherent Theatre Company is bringing their award-winning 711 Theatre Project entries to life with an evening of short-plays and a few surprises. Expect a visit from The Incoherent Theatre Company’s resident Britons — “Nigel & Bridgette” — plus a never-before-seen play, “The Edge of Perception.” Admission is $10 (buy more than one ticker and receive a discount).

‘Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom’ presented by Locust Productions

Kirkwood Theater, 400 Walnut St.

Feb. 16-26

In a suburban subdivision with identical houses, parents find their teenagers addicted to an online horror video game that is set in a subdivision with identical houses. To beat the game, players must smash through an army of zombies to escape the neighborhood for good. But as the line blurs between virtual and reality, both parents and players realize that fear has a life of its own. Admission is $9-$12.

‘Stuart Little’ presented by The Des Moines Playhouse

Kate Goldman Children’s Theatre, 831 42nd St.

Feb. 17 through March 4

Audiences will see first hand that being a mouse in a house full of humans is an adventure waiting to happen. Stuart Little has plenty of mishaps including getting caught in a window-blind, participating in a boat race and getting trapped in a garbage can. When his friend, the bird Margalo, disappears, this heroic mouse sets out on an adventure like no other to find her and bring her home. Admission is $12-$15.

‘Bring It On: The Musical’ presented by the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines

The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines, 221 Walnut St.

Feb. 28 through March 4

“Bring It On: The Musical” should bring plenty of smiles to the audiences as they become involved in an over-the-top rivalry between two high school cheerleading squads. This new musical comedy combines an exciting fresh sound, gravity-defying choreography and a thrilling story to create a show worth cheering for. Admission is $20-$59.50. CV
