Nov. 26, 12:12 a.m.
Shooting and first-degree burglary at the 1400
block of East 18th Street. Witnesses called
police reporting a relative had been shot. When
police arrived, the victim was laying in the
back yard with a gunshot wound to his upper
back. He was transported to the hospital, and
it was determined his injuries were not immediately
life threatening. Witnesses told police they
heard banging from a nearby residence and watched
three men wearing ski masks exit in a hurry.
As they pursued the alleged suspects, they said
they heard about eight to 10 gun shots, one
of which reportedly struck the victim. Through
their investigation, police found the burglary
victim’s door jam was splintered, and the metal
door was bent. She told police she awoke to
one of the suspects standing over her pointing
a gun at her while another went through her
belongings and a third paced in the hallway,
all were armed, she said. They stole an Apple
I-pad and an X-box 360 (a total estimated value
of $850), according to reports.
Nov. 28, 4:04 p.m.
Assault at the 3400 block of Southeast 8th
Street. Grandma called police when her grandson’s
fight with his grandfather got physical. The
28-year-old suspect allegedly pushed his grandfather,
causing him to hit his head on the wall hard
enough for it to bleed. The suspect was arrested.
Nov. 28, 7 a.m.
Assault at the 1400 block of Des Moines Street.
The alleged victim was skateboarding to school
when he was stopped by three boys. One held
his legs and the other held his arms while the
third punched him in the stomach and side, he
told police. The suspects are in seventh, eighth
and ninth grade, and the victim is 11 years
old. They attend Hiatt Middle School, according
