in the Junction
Jingle in the Junction takes over Historic
Valley Junction on Thursday Dec. 1, Dec. 8 and
Dec. 15 from 5 to 9 p.m. The businesses and
streets will be lined with more than 150,000
twinkling lights. Activities including horse
drawn carriage rides, caroling and a visit with
Santa will be offered. Along with the activities,
each night will have a different theme. On Dec.
1, “Living Windows” take over as merchants will
display their and ballots will be provided so
attendees can vote for their favorite. On Dec
8, enjoy “Reindeer Games,” a relay race consisting
of three events for teams of four. Winners receive
exclusive Valley Junction gift baskets. To sign-up,

On Dec. 15, enjoy “Cocoa & Carols &
Caps.” Merchants will serve hot cocoa to customers
as carolers stroll through the area. There will
also be an “Ugly Holiday Hat” contest with the
winner receiving a $50 gift certificate. For

Enjoy waffles for a good cause
The New Horizons annual Belgian Waffle Breakfast
will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 7:30
to 11 a.m. at the Ankeny First United Methodist
Church, 206 S.W. Walnut St., Ankeny. The menu
offers Dad’s Belgian Waffles with whipped cream
and a variety of maple syrup flavors as well
as sausage links, fresh fruit and beverages.
Admission is $6 in advance or $7 at the door
(children five and under are free). All of the
proceeds help benefit New Horizons Adult Day

Celebrate the season with Julefest
Join the Grand View University Choir as for
“Julefest, Name Above All Names,” at 7:30 p.m.
on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Faith Lutheran Church,
10395 University Ave., Clive. Come recount our
Savior’s birth and celebrate the many names
of Jesus at this fun-filled event. A dessert
reception will follow. A free-will offering
will be taken, and all proceeds will go to the
Grand View University music department. Reservations
