Local rock band Punching Betty has released its self-titled, debut album, which is available on Amazon and iTunes. Recorded at Skyline Studios, its 10 original songs are influenced by the Foo Fighters, The Beatles and Nirvana. The band says that it will release a second album this winter.

The fifth annual Crossroads Entertainment Conference will be held Thursday, Nov. 10 and Friday, Nov. 11 throughout downtown Des Moines. The event includes about 30 professional seminars and workshops for musicians, artists, film makers and entertainment entrepreneurs. It also includes a music showcase ($10) on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. at Court Center, featuring bands like Vanity Theft, Mathien and Making Movies. Conference passes are $30. Singer-songwriter Tom Kimmel ($7) performs Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. at The Lighthouse Concert Series at West Des Moines Christian Church.

Roots music guitarist Damon Fowler ($10) performs Friday, Nov. 11 at 9 p.m. at All Play.

Country music legend Kris Kristofferson ($20-$60) plays Terrible’s Lakeside Casino at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 12.

Unknown Component, a.k.a. Des Moines’ Keith Lynch, has landed a residency at Orlondo’s Bar and Grill, 4337 Park Ave. He will perform free shows at 8:30 on Nov. 12, 19, 23 and 26 and Dec. 3, 10, 17 and 31. Lynch is working on a new album due next year. Visit http://www.unknowncomponent.com.

The 2nd Annual Musician’s Gear Tag Sale and Swap Meet will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at CatchLight Studio, 304 15th St. Studio 102 in Des Moines. Admission is free. Musicians can sell gear for a fee of $10. No dealers. Call 953-8086.

The Oasis Quartet performs Saturday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Drake University’s Sheslow Auditorium as part of the Civic Music Association’s concert series. Tickets are $5-$38 at Midwestix.

Hip-hop’s Game ($25) performs Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Val Air Ballroom at 10 p.m.

Eddie Shaw & the Wolf Gang ($12) plays the M-Shop on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 9 p.m.

Pop-country act Gloriana plays Saturday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m. at People’s Court. Tickets are $18 at Ticketfly... Newly announced shows at People’s include Asking Alexandria and Black Veil Brides (Dec. 4, $23), The Envy Corps (Dec. 8, $12) and Revolution (March 21, $15).

Lipbone Redding ($25) performs Sunday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Flying Mango.

Hillbilly punk Lydia Loveless ($6) performs Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. at the Vaudeville Mews.

Prairie Meadows hosts a “Concert To Combat Hunger” featuring Gavin DeGraw, Michelle Branch and Andy Grammer on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $29 and $75. Proceeds benefit the Food Bank of Iowa.

The Christian rock “Winter Jam” returns to Wells Fargo Arena on Jan. 20 featuring Skillet, Sanctus Real, Peter Furler and others. Tickets are $10 at the door.

The Supersuckers play the House of Bricks on Feb. 4 with The Spittin’ Cobras and Jacob County & the Damaged Goods. Tickets are $15 at Midwestix. CV
