As the world's most widely-consumed alcoholic
beverage, beer has become synonymous with activities
across the globe. From the ridiculous binge
drinking of many collegians to the critical
sips of beer connoisseurs, beer satisfies a
wide range of tastes. Beer has also created
a social culture with activities like pub crawls,
beer drinking games and a myriad of festivals,
including our own Cityview Brewfest.
With a couple dozen or so official breweries
now open in our state, one thing is for certain:
Iowans' appreciation for beer is growing. So
when a nearby brewery opens its doors in a rural
community with great accolades, we take notice
and are pleased to share its story, one that
beer drinkers and non-beer drinkers alike can
truly appreciate.
A&E Editor Jared Curtis traveled to Peace
Tree Brewery in Knoxville last week to see what
all the buzz was about surrounding its handcrafted,
full-flavored beers. He tells their story in
this week's cover, encouraging us all to raise
our glasses and say "cheers" to another
success in Iowa's beer industry.CV
