Aug. 14, 2:30 a.m.
Assault causing injury at the 2900 block of
East Grand Avenue. The alleged victim told police
he was assaulted by a bouncer at D's Maingate
bar. He said the man punched him in the face,
knocking two of his front teeth out, which also
knocked him down, causing him scrapes and his
cell phone to break. At that time, police had
arrived and told him to go home. When the police
didn't follow up with him, he called to file
the report the following day. He claims he was
not drinking at the time and offered a friend
as a witness but could not provide a phone number
or address for the witness.
Aug. 16, 8:11 p.m. to 1:06 a.m.
Intimidation with a dangerous weapon at the
1300 block of Carpenter Avenue. Patrolling officers
heard several gun shots after which a tan 2004
Toyota sped directly toward them. The driver
did not stop when officers signaled with emergency
lights and sirens. After stopped, the occupants
said they fled in fear they were the ones being
shot at. Upon searching the travelled path of
the vehicle, an officer found handgun. All three
occupants were arrested.
Aug. 12, 12:05 a.m.
Assault at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Police
were dispatched regarding a harassment. The
alleged victim named three suspects who started
a fight with her and her cousin after having
harassed them with phone calls. One suspect
"ran up on her" with clenched fists,
so she punched her in the face. Eventually the
three got the upper hand, and the victim was
kicked in the head and beaten. CV |
