Aug. 1, 9:20 p.m.
Theft from auto at the 1300 block of East University
Avenue. Police responded to a call from the
victim who said he left his car unlocked and
his windows down while he ran into Walgreens.
He returned to find his I-Touch music player
and his GPS unit were missing. A security camera
caught clear footage of one man stealing the
equipment. After confronting the men, the officer
found the stolen items in the grass nearby.
The property was recovered and the man was arrested
and charged.
July 26-July 30, various times
Buglary at the 2800 block of Oxford Street.
The victim told police she'd been noticing things
coming up missing from her bedroom safe such
as her birth certificate, titles to two cars
and numerous receipts and credit card statements.
She suspected her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend
were responsible. She changed her locks and
installed security cameras, and there has been
no signs of forced entry, she said. She believes
the new girlfriend is involved because her ex-boyfriend
cannot read, however she said he's smart enough
to not be caught on the surveillance cameras
and to figure out a way to bypass the alarm
system.
Aug. 1, 12:01 a.m.
Simple assault at the 1800 block of Sixth Avenue.
The victim's mother called police and told them
that while she was out the suspect, who is a
neighbor who visits frequently, came to her
house intoxicated, got angry at her daughter
and slapped her in the face. A minor also witnessed
the attack. Police went to the neighbor's house
and a male resident told them the suspect had
a drinking problem and there was a no-contact
order in place prohibiting her from living there
anymore. An arrest warrant was filed. CV |
