notice that we don't seem to have a shortage
of politicians running for office? Despite the
rigorous demands of the job and the constant
scrutiny of the candidates' professional and
personal lives, a number of gluttons for punishment

and leave at least one standing in this political
version of musical chairs. Two of the five sitting
incumbents have moved to new districts, and
the addition of former Iowa first-lady Christie
Vilsack will add fuel to an already hot fire
in northwest Iowa. In this week's cover story,
we take a look at each race, detailing the strengths
and weaknesses of the candidates and explaining
the significance to Iowans.
