Newly announced lineups for summer concert series, including the free stages at the Iowa State Fair, the Des Moines Arts Festival, Jazz in July, Music on the Plaza, Rendezvous on Riverview and updated club calendars can be found in this week's cover story.

The "Revolt Tour," featuring Hollywood Undead, 10 Years, Drive A and New Medicine, plays the Val Air Ballroom on Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $22.50 through Ticketmaster.

Cheap Trick plays Friday, May 27 at 7 p.m. at 7 Flags Event Center. Tickets are $39.50 through http://www.greatticketsnow.com.

The Belin Quartet begins another summer series with a free performance at 12:15 p.m. at Nollen Plaza. The opening concert is a memorial show to Belin Quartet founders, David and Connie Belin.

Joyful Noise in West Des Moines will host a clinic by drummer Dante Roberson (Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys) on Saturday, May 28 at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $20 for the clinic and $40 for a master class. Call 327-7007.

Smokin' in the Junction, a two-day barbecue competition held in Valley Junction, includes free performances by Mickel Williams (noon), The Blue Band (2 p.m.), Comfort Zone (5:30 p.m.) and Matt Woods and The Thunderbolts (8 p.m.) on Saturday, May 28. Local hard rock band Calous, which formed in 1997, will perform its final shows on Saturday, May 28 at 9 p.m. at the Maingate Bar and Grill with special guest Slow Intentional Damage (free) and June 4 at 9 p.m. at the House of Bricks with special guests Goat Hill, Cirrus Minor and Freak Label ($7).

Taylor Swift and Needtobreathe play Wells Fargo Arena on Sunday, May 29 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $27-$71 through the box office and Dahl's Tickets.

Romi Mayes, featuring Jay Nowicki, performs Sunday, May 29 at 7 p.m. at Flying Mango. Tickets are $15 through Midwestix.

Two all-ages shows of note this week at the House of Bricks: I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business on Sunday, May 29 and ByItsRightname, Jailbox, Tessa Johnson and Matt Haydon on Tuesday, May 31. Showtimes are 5 p.m. Admission is $5 each.

The Warren Haynes Band has been added to the Nitefall on the River lineup on June 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 through Midwestix.

The Smithereens headline a Des Moines Arts Festival free stage on June 24 from 8:30 to 10 p.m.

Soja and Kelly James have replaced the Floorwalkers as openers for O.A.R. at the Val Air Ballroom on July 26. Tickets are $35 through Ticketmaster.
