Bar 2060

Get spoiled

Offering the best of both worlds, Bar 2060 offers a laid-back lounge atmosphere during the week and cuts loose during the weekend transforming into a dance club. All three owners — Gino Fadi, Kenji Nakata and Raj Devan — have been working as DJs or in bar promotions for years and decided that is was their time to shine.

" We knew what worked and what didn't," Devan said. "So we wanted to open a place that was different."

The location of the bar, across the street from Nebraska Furniture Mart, has housed numerous places including Raul's. The owners knew the place was a hot spot, it just needed a new look and vibe.

" We've added a lot of new amenities," Nakata said. "We have new furniture, lighting, a DJ booth, a stage and a state-of-the-art sound system."

Patrons can stop in Tuesday through Thursday and enjoy more of a lounge vibe, but on the weekends, national and international DJs stop through and turn up the party.

" Every weekend we have new DJs with different styles, and each night is a special party," Devan said. "We're the only bar in town that brings in national and international DJs on a regular basis. And keep a look out because we have some big time acts coming soon."

On the first and third Tuesday, patrons can enjoy Salsa Night with free salsa lessons at 9 p.m. and two-for-one drink specials. Stop in Wednesday for WAC (Wednesday After Class), pay the $5 cover and enjoy 25-cent pitchers and 50-cent wells with a live DJ. Patrons can also enjoy Beer Pong and Nintendo Wii. Thursday is Talent Night, where local artists, musicians, poets, DJs and MCs are welcome to stop in and show off their skills. There is a $5 cover (two-for-one before 11 p.m.), and patrons can enjoy $1 wells and draws until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday offer different theme parties with top DJs. Also on Saturday, the bar holds "Stark Raving Mad" with DJ Dartanyen in their separate patio room featuring a full night of electronic music. And get ready for the workweek on Sunday with Reggae Night.

" We try to hold a variety of different theme nights and parties to keep it fresh for patrons," Devan said.

Upcoming parties include the Shades and Stilettos party on Friday, May 27; the Grown and Sexy Party with DJ Episode on Saturday, May 28; and a Memorial Day White Party on Sunday, May 29.

Bachelor and bachelorette parties pay no cover and receive a free bottle of champagne. Patrons drink for free during their birthday week. The bar also has VIP service available.

" Our VIP section is very exclusive, and you have your own waitress and bartender," Nakata said. "Plus, we will meet and beat any bottle service price in town."

The owners of Bar 2060 have plenty of reasons why patrons should skip the rest and party the night away with them.

" We're all from different backgrounds, but we've come together to create a great party," Devan said. "We have the best bottle service, sound system and hottest looking waitresses in town. So come out and get spoiled." CV
