Saints Pub & Patio
Beaverdale's newest destination
Although Saints Pub & Patio in West Des Moines is still fairly new, business
was great, so the idea of another location was born. After looking at numerous
spots, the owners found their new home — the Beaverdale neighborhood.
"
The old Michael's building had been sitting empty, so it seemed like the
perfect location," said manager Wes Dorsch. "Beaverdale is a great
neighborhood, but we felt like it needed something more. So far we've had
some great crowds, and the neighborhood has welcomed us."
The space was completely renovated.
"
We leveled everything, added a new kitchen and raised the ceiling," Dorsch
said. "It was a lot of work, but it looks great."
One of the main draws to the building is the patio overlooking the street.
Patrons have a choice of sitting in the four seasons patio or venturing out
under the sun on the outside patio.
"
Opening the patio garage door draws people in; they love it," Dorsch
said. "Now that the weather is nicer, everyone wants to enjoy it."
The bar offers a menu filled with a wide variety of options including burgers,
sandwiches, salads, entrees and appetizers. Specials include Steak Night
($9.99) on Monday, $5 burgers on Tuesday and $1 sliders on Wednesday. On
Saturday and Sunday, Saints serves breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. On
Sunday, enjoy $4 Bloody Marys.
"
We offer some great food at an affordable price," Dorsch said. "People
enjoy our breakfast, especially the Saints Bowl, which has a little bit of
everything in it. Plus, we have cereal."
Happy Hour takes place Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and
all day Sunday. The bar offers 20 beers on tap, and patrons can enjoy $1
off draws and wells and $2 off pitchers. Stop in through May and enjoy $5
Moscow Mules.
"
We offer Happy Hour during the weekend because it lets the people who can't
stop in during the week enjoy the same specials," Dorsch said.
The bar has 18 TVs and includes the MLB Package and a place to watch a former
Hoover star take the mound.
"
We'll be broadcasting all the Tampa Bay Rays games, especially when Jeremy
Hellickson pitches," Dorsch said.
While at Saints, try the house shot — the 301 — a sweet concoction
that packs a punch.
"
It has plenty of complimentary flavors and is very tasty," Dorsch said.
Although there are numerous restaurants/bars in Beaverdale, Dorsch believes
Saints Pub & Patio adds a missing element to the neighborhood.
"
We're a friendly, family oriented neighborhood business where you can catch
the game, enjoy some tasty food or sip a drink on the patio," he said. "We're
part of a great hub of bars and restaurants, so we're the perfect neighborhood
to spend the day or evening." CV
