"Acquire the Fire Tour," featuring Remedy Drive, Leeland, R-Swift, School of Worship and Joel Johnson, plays the First Federated Church in Des Moines on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5. Tickets are $57-$67. Visit www.firstfederated.org.

Bluegrass-jam band Cornmeal plays People's Court on Saturday, March 5 at 9 p.m. Admission is $12.

Rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa performs Saturday, March 5 at 8 p.m. at Stephens Auditorium in Ames. Tickets are $36-$69 through Ticketmaster.

The Establishment, Hoo Doo Prophet, Dirty Grandpa and Faculty Lounge play a free show on Saturday, March 5 at 7 p.m. at the Val Air Ballroom. Donations and auction proceeds benefit Family Services at the Iowa National Guard.

Female-led, local bands Madam Jules, Rainbow Penley, Rae and The Honeybees and Cleo's Apartment, and burlesque dancer Phoenix L'Amour, perform "Vaginas United," a benefit concert for domestic violence shelters at the House of Bricks on Saturday, March 5 at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $10 or $7 with a donated item. ... In other HOB news, Edisun, Quarterfly and Sunday Drive play an all-ages show on Saturday, March 5 at 5 p.m. ($12); as do Bobaflex, Royal Bliss and Oceans Divide ($10) on Wednesday, March 9 at 5:30 p.m.

Local indie, folk-rock band The River Monks host a CD release party on Saturday, March 6 at 6 p.m. at the Vaudeville Mews. Admission is $5.

James Taylor performs Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. at the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines. Tickets are $68 and $88 through Ticketmaster. Taylor's son, Ben Taylor, opens the show.

"Iowa Hardcore Helping Kids," a benefit show for Youth Emergency Services & Shelter of Iowa, will be held Sunday, March 6 at 4 p.m. at All Play. Knuckled Down, Motivated, Omens, Crusader, 6000 Wings and the Bended Bow and Just Do It will perform. Admission is $5.

The Des Moines Music Collector's Show will be held Sunday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Downtown Holiday Inn. Admission is $1.

The Greater Des Moines Music Coalition will host its annual Gross Domestic Product show on April 2 at the Hotel Fort Des Moines. Thirteen bands (Poison Control Center, Gaiden Gadema & Young Tripp, Pink Kodiak, Parlours) play on two stages from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $10 through Midwestix.

Veteran rockers Rick Springfield (April 8, $35) and April Wine with Head East (April 29, $20) play 7 Flags Event Center.

People's Court has announced the following shows: Matt Wertz and Ben Rector (April 5, $18), My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult perform (April 12, $15), Mushroomhead and (hed)pe (April 28, $20), "The Take Action Tour" with Silverstein, Bayside and others (May 21, $17) and Iron & Wine (June 9, $25). Tickets are available through Midwestix.

John Vanderslice plays April 30 at the Vaudeville Mews. Tickets are $12 through Midwestix.

Def Leppard and Heart play the Iowa State Fair Grandstand on Aug. 13. Tickets TBA.
