Healthly volunteerism

 

Those of us who have health insurance and access to medical care tend to take it for granted. When we hear of those who don't have the same care, especially those in our own back yards, it hits home. So when a caring member of our staff told me she was volunteering at a local free health clinic, I was intrigued enough to assign a reporter to the story. What we learned was eye opening for all of us, as the efforts of so many are truly put to good use. Reporter Amber Williams shares the history of many of the free health clinics in the metro including the inspiring story of the man behind them and the countless volunteers who continue his efforts today.
