Get in the game

Sports bars can be irritating, especially if you can’t find a seat, have a bad angle of the TV or even worse, show up to see your team only to find out the bar is showing a different game. You won’t find these problems at The Stadium Grill & Bar. Although it has 12 massive TVs adorning the walls, it also offers a number of smaller TVs in 10 booths, allowing patrons to watch any sport or show their hearts desire.

“We have great game day crowds no matter the season. We’re always open to hear from our customers about who should be on the big screens. If we have a lot of fans from one team here, we’re going to play that game,” said Mikki Stravers, bar manager. “And with offering the booth TVs, fans can get any game they want at their table.”

The family-friendly neighborhood sports bar offers an array of drinks and food. The menu offers a wide variety of burgers, sandwiches, pizza, salads and appetizers. Since general manager Jen Franks recently took over The Stadium, a plethora of unique appetizers including fried Oreos, sweet corn bites, fried zucchini and mini corndogs have appeared on the menu.

“You can’t find the Oreos any other place than The Iowa State Fair,” Stravers said. “Jen wanted to offer something different than the normal appetizers. Plus, we offer half-priced appetizers after 8 p.m., so it’s a great time to stop in and try a few.”

Happy Hour takes place from 8 p.m. until close, daily. Patrons can enjoy two-for-one well drinks, domestic bottles and draws, as well as the previously mentioned half-priced appetizers.

“We have a lot of workers in the area stop in for a few drinks before heading home, so we wanted to offer a later Happy Hour,” Stravers said.

The Stadium also offers daily drink specials. Stop in for “Mean Muggen Monday” and enjoy $3 22 oz. domestic mugs ($4 premium). “Tastefully Trash Tuesday” offers $1.50 “trashy beer” like High Life, Schlitz, Old Milwaukee and Pabst Blue Ribbon. “Wine, Weat and Weed Wednesday” offers $4 glasses of wine, $12 bottles of wine, $4 Boulevard Wheat mugs and $3 Jeremiah Weed drinks. “Thirsty Thursday” serves up two-for-one well drinks, domestic bottles and draws all day long. Get ready for the weekend with “Fire Up Friday” and enjoy $2.50 wells, $3 Pucker Bombs and $3 Fireball Whiskey shots. Stop in for “South of the Border Saturdays” for $3.50 margaritas, Long Island Iced Teas and import bottles as well as $2 salsa, queso or bean dip with chips. And relax at the end of the weekend with “Sit Back Sunday” offering $2.50 Tequila Sunrise and Screwdrivers, $3.50 Bloody Marys, $5.50 domestic pitchers, $2 domestic bottles, $3.99 game day wings and half-priced appetizers.

“We have great food, amazing appetizers and offer amazing drink specials throughout the entire week,” Stravers said. “We also have plenty of TVs so you can watch any game you want. Stop in for an exciting and friendly game-watching atmosphere.” CV
