A look at some of the events taking place on New Year’s Eve in and around the metro
Every year we dress up and drink up to celebrate the New Year, looking for a new start in 2011. Nearly every bar in town will be offering some type of drink specials or champagne toasts. We couldn’t list them all, so this is just a taste of the events taking place. Just remember the Tylenol — otherwise you might have a head-pounding start for 2011.
Gino’s West Glen, 5513 Mills Civic Parkway, West Des Moines. 7 p.m.
Celebrate the New Year at West Glen’s newest sensation, Gino’s West Glen. There will be live music from Larry Berenguel from 7 to 11 p.m. and Lesson 7 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Enjoy Gino’s New Year’s Martinis for $4 all night long as well as a free champagne toast at midnight.
The Funny Bone, 560 S. Prairie View Drive, Suite 100 , West Des Moines, 7:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.
Have a few laughs to help bring in the New Year during the Funny Bone’s New Year’s Eve Bash with comedian Michael Loftus, currently a writer for “The George Lopez Show.” The 7:30 p.m. show is $30 per person and includes an appetizer buffet from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and tickets to a future show. The full dinner menu will also be available. The 9:45 p.m. show is $35 per person and includes party favors a champagne toast at midnight and tickets to a future show. Reservations required.
Bombay Bicycle Club, 8410 Hickman Road, Clive. 8 p.m.
Ring in the New Year in style with a plethora of entertainment including DJ Richie Daggers, Madam Jules, live Go-Go dancers, Come Unity and High While Driving. The night includes drink specials and free shots of Jack Daniels, Jameson and Jagermeister for a midnight toast.

Stop in for $2 domestic bottles, $3 Jagerbombs and free pool all night long.
Liars Club, 216 Court Ave. 8 p.m.
Liars Club presents its “Fuck 2010 New Year’s Eve” Party. DJ Jay E (producer of Nelly’s “Country Grammar”) will be spinning tunes all night, and there will be drink specials as well as free champagne for a midnight toast. Call Troy at 240-4017 for VIP or table reservations.
Limey’s Pub, 1970 Grand Ave., Suite 29, West Des Moines, 6 p.m.
Celebrate the New Year twice at Limey’s Pub with a champagne toast at 6 p.m. (English New year) and then again at midnight. For the 6 p.m. English New year there will a champagne toast and bag pipers. A $19.99 Prime Rib special will be served for dinner.
