‘The Human Centipede (First Sequence)’

Directed by Tom Six

Rated R, 92 minutes

Not since “Audition” has a movie stuck with me in such a disturbing way that I had trouble sleeping. But that’s what happened after experiencing “The Human Centipede.”

This is not a movie for the faint of heart, and I almost turned off the film just to escape the nightmare. If you’re brave enough, though, immerse yourself into the crazy and sickening world of Dr. Heiter (Dieter Laser). Two Americans (Ashley C. Williams and Ashlynn Yennie), traveling in Germany, have car trouble on a dark and stormy night. Soon they see a light and go to the door. Unfortunately, they have just walked into hell. Dr. Heiter drugs them, ties them up, and along with a captured man (Akihiro Kitamura), surgically turns the trio into a human centipede. If you’re a fan of gross, horrifying and disturbing films, check out “The Human Centipede.” Otherwise, stay far away. CV

‘Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer’

Directed by John McNaughton

1986, Unrated, 83 minutes

“Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” is only a movie, but the violence depicted on screen is straight from real life serial killer Henry Lee Lucas. The movie doesn’t hold back, starting with a dead, naked woman lying in a field and then cuts between scenes of Henry (Michael Rooker) going about his daily routine and other dead bodies. Henry lives in a crummy apartment with Otis (Tom Towles) and the two troll the town together looking for their next victim. When Otis allows his sister (Tracy Arnold) to stay with them, Henry becomes infatuated, as they connect over their troubled pasts. Henry and Otis continue to kill until some animosity ends their way. “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” takes in an interesting look at a demented man whose motto is “them or us.” Being based on true events, this film becomes even scarier.
