Valley Junction’s longstanding free music series, Function in the Junction, concludes another successful season with a performance by Boomerang on Thursday, Sept. 30 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Former Lucinda Williams guitarist-producer Gurf Morlix plays the House of Bricks on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. Brother Trucker opens at 7 p.m. Admission is $10.
Funk-jazz drummer Stanton Moore, co-founder of the New Orleans band Galactic, plays the Vaudeville Mews on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 10 p.m. with singer-guitarist Anders Osborne. Admission is $15.
Former Des Moines rock band The Blinders is reuniting after 18 years for one show on Friday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. at the House of Bricks. Dirty Grampa, a new band formed by The Blinders’ Craig Sinclair, will open. Admission TBA.
Three shows this week at the Val Air Ballroom: Band of Horses, with openers Brad & Blake Mills on Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. ($25); Dic Young’s Rock ‘N Roll Revival on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. ($10); and Passion Pit on Monday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. ($25). ...
