Gov. Chet Culver recently announced a $1.3 million federal grant to the “Block by Block” project in Cedar Rapids. The self-help disaster recovery project will aid those hit the hardest by the 2008 flooding. Block by Block is a year-round project aimed at rebuilding eight residential blocks in the city. The $1.3 million grant is part of an $11.1 million federal Social Services Block Grant. CV
