Aug. 29-31

 

Aug. 31, 4:50 a.m.

Robbery in the 2900 block of Beaver Avenue. The victim advised officers that he was walking home when a group of eight black males jumped out of a maroon colored minivan. The suspects hit and kicked the victim repeatedly, took $40 and his social security card from his pocket. The victim told officers he knew the names of two of the suspects. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

 

Aug. 30-31, 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

Burglary in the 3400 block of Douglas Avenue. The victim told officers he returned home to find his back door to his house open, and it appeared that much of the house had been rifled through. The victim stated that a television, laptop, DVD player, digital camera, a jar of coins and approximately 50 DVDs, valued at more than $2,500 was missing. The victim told officers that her roommate might have additional information about the incident. Officers were unable to locate the suspect(s).

 

Aug. 29, 1:39 p.m.

Assault at the intersection of Southeast 14th Street and East Army Post Road. The victim was traveling eastbound on Army Post Road with two other passengers when another vehicle displayed some road rage to the victim. This continued as both vehicles stopped at a traffic signal on Southeast 14th Street. At this time, the passenger in the suspect car exited and approached the passenger side of the victim’s car. The suspect opened the door and struck the victim in the head with a tire iron. The suspect then ran back to his vehicle and took off. The passengers in the victim’s car told officers they recognized the suspect as an ex-boyfriend. Officers were unable to locate the suspect(s).CV

 

Busted

Name: Bryan Rodriguez

The story: Officers were tipped to Leyden Avenue on a crime alert that indicated that a witness saw a male, later identified as Rodriguez, inside a minivan that he did not own. Officers came to the intersection and observed Rodriguez wearing a white-striped polo and jeans fitting the description of the suspect. Officers noticed Rodriguez was carrying a black box object. The officers stopped Rodriguez and gathered his information. At this point, officers recognized the black box as a Sanyo car stereo amplifier. While patting Rodriguez down, officers found a screwdriver in his pocket. While continuing to get information from the individual, Rodriguez admitted to getting into the minivan and taking the equipment. Rodriguez was placed under arrest without incident and taken to the Polk County Jail. He was charged with third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Height: 5’7”

Weight: 140 lbs.

Hair: Black

Eyes: Brown

Wanted for: Weapons charges. After a high-speed chase, Gayton ran from his car leaving a weapon inside. Gayton has “47” tattooed on the left side of his neck.
