Stoner-metal-hip-hop band the Kottonmouth Kings bring their “Party Monsters Tour” to All Play in downtown Des Moines on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $18. Authority Zero, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Bliss ‘N Eso and Big B open the show.

Pop singer Adam Lambert plays Friday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. at Simon Estes Amphitheater. Tickets are $32.50 through Ticketmaster.

Veteran rocker Eddie Money of “Two Tickets to Paradise” and “Shakin’” fame plays Friday, Sept. 3 at 8 p.m. at People’s Court. Tickets are $25 through Midwestix.

Matt Woods and The Thunderbolts play the season’s final Blues Before Sunset concert in the East Village on Friday, Sept. 3 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in front of the Iowa Historical Building. Admission is Free.

Des Moines punk rock band North of Grand plays Saturday, Sept. 4 at 9 p.m. at the Greenwood Lounge. Admission is free.

Devildriver, Kittie and Kataklysm, Misery and Dead Horse Trauma play People’s Court on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 7:30 p.m. for an all-ages show. Tickets are $17 through Midwestix.

J.P. Soars and the Red Hots, winners of the 2009 International Blues Challenge, play Blues on Grand on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. Admission is $10.

Lights Over Paris and Some Hear Explosions play The House of Bricks on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. for an all-ages show. Tickets are $10 through Midwestix.

Slipknot’s new live DVD, “(sic)nesses,” will be released Sept. 28. The DVD documents the band’s performance at the 2009 Download Festival in the United Kingdom in front of 80,000 fans and includes a 45-minute behind-the-scenes documentary created by percussionist Clown, as well as all four music videos from the album “All Hope Is Gone.” “(sic)nesses” also marks one of the final major performances of Slipknot founding member and bassist Paul Gray, who died from a drug overdose in May.

Local rock band Cashes Rivers will celebrate the release of its self-titled album with a concert on Oct. 16 at the Vaudeville Mews. Admission to the 9:30 p.m. will be $5.

New shows at People’s Court include Mayday Parade, Breathe Carolina, Every Avenue, Artist vs. Poet, Go Radio and Various Secret play an all-ages show at People’s Court on Nov. 2 at 5 p.m., $15; The Gracious Few, featuring members of Live and Candlebox, play People’s Court on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m., $25; and Cannibal Corpse, Devourment, Vital Remains and Dying Fetus on Nov. 12 at 8 p.m., $17. Tickets are on sale through Midwestix.

The Boulder Acoustic Society plays Nov. 7 at the Flying Mango.

The Chapin Sisters play Java Joes Coffeehouse on Nov. 8.

Lifehouse plays the Val Air Ballroom on Nov. 12. Kris Allen opens the show. Ticket information is forthcoming.

The Christmas music of Mannheim Steamroller by Chip Davis plays the Civic Center of Greater Des Moines on Dec. 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 - $82.50 through Ticketmaster.

Next year’s 80/35 music festival will be held July 2-3, 2011 at Western Gateway Park in downtown Des Moines. CV
