Burglary in the 4100 block of Leyden Avenue. The victim returned home and found the rear door of his residence had been pried open, and a large number of various items missing. It had appeared each room of the house had been searched, as evidence by open drawers and closet doors. The victim stated he was missing two game systems, video games, a Blu-ray player, movies, two air rifles, a laptop computer, video camera and other items, valued at more than $7,500. There are no suspect(s) at this time.
Aug. 22, 11:52 p.m.
Assault causing injury in the 1100 block of Army Post Road. The victim stated he was working as a DJ when one of the patrons started giving him problems. The victim called for the bouncer to remove the patron from the bar. While the bouncers were talking to the patron, an unknown individual punched the victim in the right eye causing bruising, swelling and a cut. The victim told officers the suspect is a regular at the bar. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.
Aug. 23, 1:53 a.m.
Assault with a weapon in the 2400 block of Hubbell Avenue. The victim was standing outside of a gas station when the suspect attempted to get close to the victim and make small talk. The victim told the drunken suspect to back off. The suspect then pulled a knife from his waistband and tried to attack the victim. The victim kicked the suspect’s arm, causing him to drop the knife in the parking lot. The suspect ran into the gas station and fled through the back door. The incident was videotaped, and the investigation is ongoing. Officers have been unable to locate the suspect. CV
Busted
Name: Thomas James Dillon
The story: Officers were called to the Iowa State Fairgrounds on a report of an accident around 2:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found the suspect, later identified as reserve Polk County sheriff’s deputy Thomas James Dillon. Allegedly Dillon drove his vehicle through the fairground gates at East 31st Street and Grand Avenue. He then struck the gates, planters, a toy stand and the Dippin’ Dots ice cream stand, causing approximately $62,000 worth of damage. The State patrol report indicated that Dillon refused a breath-alcohol test at the scene. Dillon was allegedly the only person in the vehicle at the time of the crash. No one was hurt in the crash. Dillon, 43, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to maintain control.

Wanted for: Burglary and robbery charges. Blume and two other men entered a house that was being remodeled. They punched and kicked a man working there and robbed him of his wallet.
