Golf with the bunnies
The 2010 Playboy Golf Scramble will take place on Thursday, Aug. 19 at Echo Valley Country Club, 3150 Echo Valley Drive in Norwalk. Playboy Golf is accepting teams of four to participate. Sports for everyone
The Sixth Annual Adapted Sports and Recreation Clinic is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 20 at Raccoon River Park, 2500 Grand Ave. The Clinic, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature adapted kayaking, handcycling, golf and other outdoor recreation for people with spinal cord injuries and other physical impairments. Bikes and beer stop in Des Moines
The Urban Assault Ride rolls into Des Moines on Sunday, Aug. 22 beginning at Mullets, 1300 S.E. First St. The event begins at 9 a.m., as teams of two will travel on two wheels citywide for “checkpoints.” At each “checkpoint,” participants will drop off the bikes and complete an obstacle course, then remount and hit the streets for more. Upon finishing, there will be a party of bikes and beer at Mullets. Teams must bring their own bicycles, and tandems are welcome. Helmets must also be worn at all times. Price ranges from $30-$65. Online registration closes Aug. 20 at www.urbanassaultride.com. There is no day-of registration. Participants must be 21 year of ago or older.
Tickets on sale for festival
Tickets are on sale for the second annual Every Family Rocks! Des Moines Family Music Festival, which is scheduled for Sept. 19 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, 3000 East Grand Ave. The event will feature a wide range of local and national children’s entertainers, games, activities, food and more.
