Des Moines jazz singer Max Wellman, a freshman at Butler University, returns home to headline a concert at Hoyt Sherman Theater on Saturday, July 31 at 8 p.m. Wellman will be joined by an 18-piece big band of local musicians including Roxi Copland and Dave Rezek. The concert will be recorded by Capp Audio Productions and released next month as Wellman’s sophomore album. Tickets are $22 - $42 through Ticketmaster.
Theatrical-metal band Black Veil Brides headlines an all-ages show on Saturday, July 31 at 7 p.m. at People’s Court to promote their debut album, “We Stitch These Wounds.” Vampires Everywhere!, Modern Day Escape and Get Scared open. Tickets are $10 through Midwestix.
Australian singer-songwriter Martine Locke returns to the Ritual Cafe on Saturday, July 31 at 7:30 p.m. She will be joined by drummer Dionne Ward. Admission is $10.
