Victor’s Sports Club

Your World Cup destination

Sports bars are a dime a dozen throughout the metro. There is always someplace to watch the game and enjoy hot wings, no matter the team or the sport. But finding the World Cup matches, especially those not involving Team USA, can be tricky. Until the winner is declared, you can find all the soccer you can handle at Victor’s Sports Club.
“This is the first year we’ve taken on the World Cup,” said Mike Lykins, owner. “But we have had a great crowd of fans for all games. We were especially busy during the USA game.”

Victor’s has been opening early for the matches so diehards can catch their team.
“I think we are one of the only places in town showing all the games,” Lykins said.
Victor’s carries most every sports package including baseball, professional football and college football. They open early for Hawkeye football games and if you can’t find something to watch on one of its 18 TVs, maybe you should reconsider your sports fandom.

“The game is always on,” he said. “And we work to satisfy our customers requests.”

The bar, which has been open in Urbandale since 1990, is bigger than it appears from the outside. Inside you’ll find a large bar with plenty of tables and booths to keep customers happy. And with so many TVs, there isn’t a bad seat in the house.
“We made some minor changes when we took over almost six years ago, but it’s been a neighborhood sports bar since the beginning, and we wanted to keep it that way.”

Happy Hour runs from 3 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Patrons can enjoy $2.50 wells, $2.50 domestic bottles and $2.25 domestic drafts. Daily specials include: $2.50 wells and $12 buckets (5) of domestic bottles. On Tuesday, enjoy $2.25 domestic drafts. Wednesday offers $12 buckets, $2 wells, $4.50 Jagerbombs and 50-cent wings. From 8 p.m. to close on Thursday, enjoy $2.50 Captain Morgan drinks. Start your weekend off right on Friday with $2.50 UV Vodka drinks and Southern Comfort drinks. Saturday offers $2.50 wells, $4.50 Jagerbombs and 60-cent wings. And cure that hangover on Sunday with $3.50 Bloody Marys, $2 wells and 60-cent wings.

“We have some great drink specials, and bombs are some of our biggest sellers,” Lykins said.

Along with numerous drink specials, Victor’s also offers a wide variety of food (kitchen is open until 11 p.m. during the week, midnight on Friday and Saturday and 10 p.m. on Sunday) from appetizers, burgers, pizza, soups and salads. They offer a daily lunch special during the week, and kids are welcome until 9 p.m. Patrons can also enjoy a $1.50 burger, all day Sunday through Tuesday.

“We have some great food, and we are known for our wings,” he said. “We were voted the ‘Best Wings’ by the Urbandale Chamber in 2008.”

With so many places to catch a game in town, Lykins says they work hard making their customers feel welcome so they’ll return for the next game.

“We offer a friendly and inviting environment while serving quality food and drinks at a reasonable price,” he said. “We take care of our customers, and everybody is welcome.” CV
