Johnston Green Days
Johnston Green Days 2010 will take place Thursday, June 17 to Sunday, June 20. The four-day event will include a parade, carnival, live entertainment, beverage garden, Bill Riley Talent Search, 5K race, car show, family movie night, rib cook-off, children’s activities and more. Author to visit local bookstores
Joe Washington, author of the debut novel “Three Lives,” will begin his 10-city book tour with signing events on Friday, June 18 at Barnes & Noble, 4550 University Ave., and at Beaverdale Books, 2629 Beaver Ave. The first signing takes place from 3 to 5 p.m., and the second signing begins at 6:30 p.m.

 

Wine festival in Adel
The All Iowa Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 19 in Adel. The Festival, which will be located at the corner of 10th and Main Streets, will run from 4 to 9 p.m. and feature samples and bottles from 13 Iowa Wineries. The blues/rock band “Hot Tamale & The Red Hots” beginning at 5 p.m. will provide live entertainment and there will be multiple food vendors on hand. Bike to the ballpark

The Cityview Bike Ride and Blues at the Ballpark will take place Sunday, June 20. The five-mile bicycle ride starts and ends at Principal Park, 1 Line Drive. Admission is $25 for adults and $20 for children ages 20 and under. Price includes entry, game ticket vs. Albuquerque Isotopes, parking, T-shirt and picnic lunch. GDT to hold international dinner
The Gateway Dance Theatre (GDT) will hold an International Dinner on Sunday, June 20 at the Raccoon River Park Nature Lodge, 2500 Grand Ave. The event begins at 4 p.m. to increase awareness about the organization and its services. The menu will consist of an eclectic mix of dishes from cultures indicative of the growing diversity in Iowa. Cost is $20 for GDT nonmembers and $15 for members.
