The Des Moines City Council recently approved $1,350 for Kenneth Robison, senior police officer, to attend an NRA Rifle Instructor Course in Lansing, Kan., from July 11 to 16. The course is a department requirement in order to become a certified rifle instructor, and will allow the officer to instruct other officers within the department. The council also approved $1,500 for Sgt. Wade Wojewoda to attend a homicide seminar in Albany, N.Y., from Sept. 24 to 30. The seminar will provide investigators with the latest methods of solving death investigations. The amount expended for travel as of May 14 is $290,192. CV
