Weird and wacky festival scheduled
The Most Demented Art and Music Festival will be held Saturday, June 5 at the House of Bricks, 525 E. Grand Ave. Admission is $6, which will include live music and runs from 5 to 9 p.m. Enjoy items from Finder’s Creepers and other local artists. Thresholds VIII set for this weekend

Pork with a price
The fourth annual SWINE Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 5 at the Des Moines Area Community College, 2006 S. Ankeny Blvd. The festival runs from 4 to 8 p.m. and will include gourmet pork creations from 10 Iowa chefs, wine samplings from Iowa wineries and chefs will offer pairing suggestions with pork dishes. Fair parade entries sought
Applications are being accepted to participate in the 2010 Iowa State Fair, scheduled for Aug. 12 to 22. The parade is open to anyone who wishes to enter, but entrants must incorporate the 2010 Fair theme “Non Stop Fun” into their parade unit design. Admission is $25 per entry fee, and entries postmarked after July 1 must include a $15 late fee. No entries will be accepted after July 15.
