May 22-24, unknown time
Burglary and criminal mischief in the 3100 block of East Court Avenue. The reporting person stated that sometime during the weekend, an unknown suspect had gained entry to the warehouse. Once inside, the suspect turned the forklift on and set a wood block on the gas pedal. The forklift drove off a dock and sustained more than $1,000 in damage. There were no signs of forced entry into the building. Officials were unable to locate the suspect(s).

 

May 23, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Burglary in the 700 block of East 5th Street. The victim stated her family returned home to find that her rear apartment door was kicked in. It appeared the suspect had eaten some Ramen Noodles, Weight Watchers snack cakes and took $6 in change. The victim believes her teenage daughter’s friend is a suspect but has no proof. The victim reported that the alleged suspect has entered the apartment before uninvited. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

 

May 23, 6:07 p.m.
Domestic assault in the 1500 block of 13th Street. Officers met with the victim who reported that she and her boyfriend, the suspect, got into an argument. The suspect hit her with a dog collar and then went downstairs and returned with a kitchen knife. The suspect proceeded to stick the knife into the bedroom wall just outside the doorway. The victim stated that the suspect then put both his arms around her neck and said that he was going to kill her. The victim was able to escape and see the suspect leave on his bicycle. The victim told officers that the two had been consuming alcoholic beverages prior to the incident. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.CV

Name: Teresa Rochelle Bennett
The story: One of the victims reported that the suspect, later identified as Bennett, was in the kitchen arguing with her boyfriend. One of the victims told them to be quiet. In response, Bennett then grabbed a kitchen knife and aggressively came at the boyfriend. The other victim was able to grab the knife from Bennett, but sustained small cuts to her hand in the process. She also had cuts on her arm from Bennett biting her. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Bennett who refused several commands to place her hand behind her back. After being placed in handcuffs, Bennett continued to kick and struggle with officers. Bennett was soon arrested and taken to the Polk County Jail where she was charged with assault use or display of a dangerous weapon and interference with official acts.
