Due to the deterioration of the Easter Lake Drive Bridge, the Iowa Department of Transportation has approved this project for funding up to a maximum of $245,000. The City of Des Moines’ portion of the project consists of the design, inspection and construction costs is estimated to be $355,000. The 40-year-old structure shows signs of deterioration, and the project will include widening the roadway, adding a sidewalk/trail, installing new pedestrian railings and more. Easter Lake Drive will be closed during construction, which is anticipated for 2011. CV
